Artist Bio

Becki Kirkwood is a Glasgow-born artist currently living and working in the Highlands of Scotland. She creates portraits through photography, collage, and drawing techniques, often combining them to form mixed media artworks. Her work primarily draws inspiration from personal experiences and is heavily influenced by everyday emotion and self-perception as she explores themes such as mental health and identity.

Kirkwood developed her current practice while studying at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Inverness, Scotland. She graduated in 2020 with a BA with First Class Honours in Contemporary Art and Contextualised Practice.

Since beginning her studies, Kirkwood has exhibited her artwork around Scotland, including in Inverness and Dundee. In 2019, The Arts Society Highland awarded her The Arts Society Highland Annual Prize for Contemporary Art after being selected to show her work at the ‘New Highland Contemporary 6’ exhibition in Nairn as part of the Nairn Book and Arts Festival. Kirkwood is a former member of Circus Graduate Associates and is 1/5 of the art collective Showcasing Scottish Artists.
